The shorter the page title, the more intent?

Each year more than 2.8 trillion search queries are made on Google alone. This means that Google answers more than 88,700 searches worldwide per second.i In other words: Every second that your website is not indexed on Google, you miss out on hundreds, if not thousands, of opportunities in which someone might have accessed your website, viewed your content, and bought your product or services. Stop words are the small words in your SEO phrase, such as up, with, is, a, etc. While it’s widely accepted as a best practice to remove these from your SEO phrase, sometimes removing them can actually hurt your SEO. For example, “What is a graco taco?” makes a lot more sense than “what graco taco.” So while many SEO plugins and search experts will advise you to remove stop words, sometimes it’s best to leave them in if they drastically impact the meaning of the phrase. Be your own judge. Google won’t penalise duplicate content. Instead it will decide which version of the duplicate post should appear in search results and ignore the other. A headline is usually the first thing we notice when accessing a search engine, and this reminds us that a headline should be: valuable, relevant, simple and appealing. It’s important to keep in mind that if search engine traffic is your only goal, your results will probably suffer.

Add your target keyword to your title page

Hopefully your website is laid out in a way that allows users to easily find the content or pages that you want to promote. Some of the pages onyour website might not be linked to any other page. These are referred to as “orphaned pages,” and if a bot finds such a page, it is forced to abort the crawl since bots can only move from link to link. Consumer behavior has rapidly matured with the growth of the online world. Customers access the internet through a variety of different platforms and channels. Two thirds of shoppers report using more than one channel when deciding to make a purchase. Standard engagement behaviours on SERP results, such as click-throughs and time on page, can be an indicator of freshness and relevance. As smart and sophisticated as search engines have become, they still understand one thing above all else: content. Content is unique, original material you create and publish on your site.

The ability to measure the success of your SEO efforts is crucial. Tracking and managing your website’s data can be done through Google Analytics and Google Search Console. There’s no need to spend more time on the optimisation if your content is not appealing enough for your audience.Google itself recommends that large numbers of links are only generated by unique content with added value for users. In the eyes of the search engine, links are automatically set to great content. They should not be created artificially. Create great content. Google’s reputation depends on it leading users to high quality sites, so the better and more original your content is, the more Google will like you. Google regularly refreshes its search engine algorithms. These are called “Google updates.” These updates improve search results by gradually optimizing the specifications for website quality and relevance. At the same time, they counter web spam.

Don’t guess your site speed problems; diagnose

We asked an SEO Specialist, Gaz Hall, for his thoughts on the matter: "The key is to consistently deliver value so that people come to your site for answers. And this is also ironically what will get other good sites to link to your site. This is the perfect example of ‘emergent SEO’." It’s generallyaccepted that using copyright notices and legal disclaimers can be seen as a positive sign by Google as these will make your website look more professional and more like a ‘real business’. Certain words present an ongoing challenge for the search engines. One of the greatest challenges comes in the form of disambiguation. Standard SEO advice is to keep the site architecture as flat as possible, to minimize clicks from the home page to important content. Do not go off the deep end, though; too many links on a page are not good for search engines either. User-generated content (UGC) sites and communities are two of my favourite places to find untapped keywords.

What does your audience expect from you?

The authority of the website or webpage linking to your site is also key. A few high authority links are far more valuable then many from low quality sites. Links are the key to ranking well in Google, but what marketers often forget is that links are built upon relationships with people. The best way to ‘build links’ is to forge connections and offer value to bloggers and other influencers in your niche. Don't commit the cardinal sin of letting dots ruin your page descriptions When building your content, it’s important to remember to give the crawlers enough to bite into. A hundred words typically isn’t enough copy for these crawlers to read and understand what the content is about. And this content shouldn’t be stuffed with keywords either, as some search engines (as you’ll learn in later sections) punish websites for keyword stuffing. The way in which consumers search with be noticeably changed by digital assistants.

The shorter the page title, the better

Anchor text can affect how Google weighs up links to your site. If linking to your homepage and referring to your brand, anchor text should just say your website or brand name. Links to your homepage that are more descriptive “leading experts in local SEO” can be seen as manipulative, so you want to avoid this. Although the top-level domain isn’t necessarily considered a factor, some people believe obtaining a link from .edu or .gov domains can carry more weight than others. This may be because these sorts of websites have high authority anyway. Creating infographics that give detailed information about your niche is another great way to build links. People using your infographics will be required to place a link to your site (where they obtained the infographic), thus giving you an easy backlink from a site relevant to your niche. Hopefully your website is laid out in a way that allows users to easily find the content or pages that you want to promote. In document analysis, search engines look at whether they find the search terms in important areas of the document—the title, the metadata, the heading tags, and the body of the text.
